CHAPTER 15

Time to Die

EJ DECIDED ON ANOTHER hot dog and beer dinner. He was watching one of his motor-head programs when his phone started to chime, it was Brenna. EJ answered,”Hello dear, tell me you will not fly until sometime tomorrow. Then tell me, how is Leanna doing.”

“EJ, I am already at the airport and my flight leaves in about an hour. With one stop over in Denver, I should land in Fort Lauderdale about four-thirty tomorrow morning. I have a limo service lined up to bring me home. Leave the door unlocked so I can easily get in. I should be with you by no later than six o’clock in the morning. Leanna is just fine, until the results show up, there is nothing to be worrying about. What did the MRI reveal?”

“No results, I need to wait for the brain specialist to read it and decide if there is a problem. Brenna dear, there is nothing, I know it. Say, Doc Russel gave me a device to keep from going to paradise.”

“Don’t you mean hell?”

“Love your sense of humor Brenna. The device monitors three vital signs and if any one of them drop below normal, it gives off a screech to wake me up, I guess it will wake you up as well. Hopefully I can never go into my deep sleep mode, which means, I do not go and visit paradise. Such a simple device, I have high hopes this will cure my vivid dream syndrome.”

“With your miracle device and my arrival in the morning, I am feeling very good about things. I will let you go EJ, see you in the morning, love you.”

“I love you too, Brenna.”

After speaking with Brenna and having Doctor Russel’s electronic sensor, EJ was feeling pretty good, good enough to want to write again and so he went into his study. He noticed he had several emails in his in box, so he opened it to see if any of them were worth reading. One caught his eye immediately, it was from Kiarah. He wondered if she was making a remark that they would be together tonight. He smiled slightly knowing that the monitoring device would not allow him to go into his deep sleep. He opened the email and looked at it a little puzzled. He read it out loud to himself.

“EJ, there are forces about you that wish to keep us apart. They will try to steal your soul from me. This cannot happen, but it can make our becoming one much more difficult. Please be weary of any strange happenings about you.”

He wondered what she meant about forces keeping them apart. He, himself was trying to keep the two of them apart. Now, the only strange happenings about him, was Kiarah making quick guest appearances and trying to pull him into the mirror. He almost wished to write her back, but in his mind, the less contact he had with her, the better the chances would be, to stop him from becoming one with her.
